About Miss EvelandWelcome to the Fifth Grade Class Page. I would like to take a few minutes to introduce myself. I have been an educator for more than thirty years, working as both an administrator and classroom teacher for grades 4-8. I graduated from Nazareth College of Rochester with a BA in Psychology/Concentration in Education. I also earned a Masters degree in Educational Administration from the University of Rochester. All of my professional life has been spent in the Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Rochester.
When I am not spending my time in the classroom I enjoy reading. I also love to spend time in nature, and in the summer I travel to my camp in the Adirondacks. There I can rest between the swimming, hiking and fishing I like to do. |
About 5th Grade |
Grade 5 is an important year for academic growth. While we will focus on the skills needed for continued success in all academic subjects, we will also gain confidence in the strategies and learning skills that will be necessary for lifelong learning. As 5th graders we will be encouraged to develop a love of reading. It is vitally important that students learn the value and pleasure found in reading, and begin to see it as more than a means to "find the answer" required by the teacher. The love of reading for its own sake is the very key to lifelong learning. Throughout all of our learning we will find the hand of God at work. Our Faith is infused throughout all academic areas and in our relationships with others in our classroom and school community.
